As mentioned in my previous post Looking for The Perfect Sectionals and Sofas, we fell in love with the Tillary Collection from West Elm. I did order some swatches but feeling the swatches is not the same as actually sitting on the sectional/sofa and feeling the fabric. So we came back to the West Elm store near us today to look at the fabrics available for this particular collection: Chenille Tweed, Faux Suede, Marled Microfiber, and Performance Velvet. I've read some reviews stating that Faux Suede and Marled Microfiber are not so good in the sense that they might become loose and wrinkly at the spot where people sit on the most, so my choices are narrowed down to Chenille Tweed and Performance Velvet. I'm considering the colors below (click for larger images): I want the 2 light colors while my husband prefers the dark ones. He wants to create contrast because our carpet and wall will be in light gray and off-white colors but I'm afraid a big piece of furniture in a dark color will take away the attention from the stone fireplace which is meant to be the focal point here. Anyways, our bigger problem is to choose between Chenille Tweed and Performance Velvet.
When we sat on the Tillary sectional they had at the store today which was in Chenille Tweed fabric, it felt quite rough to me as opposed to the comfortable feel I'm looking for. Additionally, there's a review stating that West Elm Tweed fabric pills like crazy, and although the type I'm looking at here is Chenille Tweed, it does look like it would do the same thing as the Tweed fabric. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any review on the Chenille Tweed. Performance Velvet feels super nice! However, choosing this fabric would cost us over $1,000 more for the family room seating furniture than choosing the Chenille Tweed. And again, it's hard to find reviews on Performance Velvet so I don't know if it's even worth the splurge. Although it'll be a few months before we could move in, I know for a fact that West Elms normally take 2-4 months to make and deliver a sofa so we wouldn't have anything to sit on after we move if the sectional doesn't arrive on time. If you have any experience on these 2 fabrics, please let me know in the comment section below. I would really appreciate it!

One quick update is we got the approval from our PM to have tile floor for the shower in the master bathroom (instead of a pre-made floor pan). Other than that, there hasn't been a lot happening so we just took our time going to some furniture stores to look for our perfect sectionals and sofas. We went to West Elm, Arhaus, Pottery Barn, and Recreation Hardware but decided that West Elm would be the store we would get our sectionals & sofas from due to style and affordability. Below are some photos I took while being inside the store (click for larger images). And the winners are: Sydney Sofa - This one looks so cute and will be perfect for our small living room! Tillary Collection - This collection is very comfortable while providing enough support (firmness) and is the COOLEST SOFA COLLECTION I'VE EVER SEEN! We love it so much that we're thinking about getting it for all sitting areas in the house (except for the living room), including family room, loft, and basement. Watch the video below and you'll understand! I have to say that it is so important to sit on furniture like sofas and beds before you buy! I was eyeing different collections from West Elm but it turned out I didn't like them at all after sitting on them. The Sydney sofa and Tillary collection look much better in real life than in the website, which is the reason I passed them in the first place while looking online. We did try to look for some good dining tables too but didn't see anything that fits our style. However, when I went home and looked for dining tables on West Elm website, I found two tables that looked exactly like what we would want for our formal dining room. I also ordered some free swatches (with free shipping) from the website to know what fabric and color we should go for. We'll see!
